The Beach

Grandma and Wese came to visit on 6/23. In honor of their (mostly for Wese) visit and because it had been far too long since we had been (Grace had only been once and Blake had never been), we decided to go to the beach. We heard about this spot along the Bolivar Peninsula where there was supposed to be a lot of wildlife (dolphins, sea turtles, pelicans, seagulls, jellyfish, etc.) and not very many people so we decided to check it out. We didn't see any dolphins or sea turtles or jellyfish but we did see tons of pelicans and seagulls and one really tiny crab and there weren't very many people so that was nice. There also wasn't that much actual beach because of all the seaweed but once we moved it out of the way and set up out chairs and umbrellas it was quite nice. We took a picnic lunch, jumped waves, played in the sand and searched for perfect sea shells. I remembered sunscreen for the kids but forgot to put some on myself. T only got his shoulders and Wese didn't put any on because she wanted a tan. All 3 of us were burnt to a crisp. It was miserable. I won't forget again :) Grandma spent all but about 10 minutes holding E under the umbrella so she was spared from the sun.

Our spot on the beach. You can see all the seaweed. It was kinda gross at first but not so bad once you got used to it.

Toes in the water for the first time.

Going a little deeper with dad.

Just relaxing.

Getting pretty brave :) They were so cute together.

G and mom wave jumping. At first G would not go out very far but once we got her out there she did not want to leave. She loved jumping the waves.

Playing in the sand.

Chasing birds. I think B would have ran all the way down the beach if we would have let him. He tried so hard to catch the birds. He would just take off. he got knocked over by a couple waves and that was about the only thing that would slow him down. He had a blast. It almost looks like both his feet are off the ground in this shot :) I would take a picture and then run after him so he wouldn't get swept away by the waves.

Taking a break from the birds for a while.

More relaxing.

Smiley girl. She loved being outside and loved being in the shade with Grandma.

Silly faces.

Watching the water.

Big wave.

Nap on the beach. I wish I could have joined her :)
