Smiles for Daddy

B is starting to coo and smile lots! Lately Daddy has been getting most of the smiles. What a cute grin!!

B started out sleeping in a Pack and Play in our bedroom but for some reason never really liked sleeping in it. He seemed to always wake up about 10 minutes after he was put down. After many sleepless nights, we decided to put his crib mattress on our bedroom floor. Much better! There are still those nights when he wakes up shortly after being put down but he is getting better. This morning we woke up to find him on the floor. He must have rolled off at some point. Who knew he could roll over?? And why didn't the baby who wakes up just by being put down wake up after rolling off the bed?? It's a good thing the mattress is only about 4 inches thick!!

Just Chillin'

B is getting really good and holding his neck up. He is getting too big too fast!! He is not quite ready for long periods of time in the Bumbo but can last a few minutes. He is starting to notice us more. He spent a long time this afternoon just laying on the bed watching G read books.

Daddy's Princess

G got her fingernails painted today. Dad saw some fingernail polish and decided that since she was a big girl now that she needed them painted so he went for it. That's right DAD painted her nails. I was pretty impressed. She was very cute when she came out of her room blowing on them to help them dry. Actually, it was more spitting but she was trying to blow. :)

In potty related news, G is still doing really well. She didn't have any real accidents to speak of today. There were a couple near accidents that she caught herself and then told us she needed to potty. We are so proud of her!!

G is a BIG GIRL!!

We are all EXHAUSTED after a long day of potty training. That's right potty training! We decided that the start of summer was the perfect time to begin this glorious event so we went shopping on Sat. for all the supplies we needed to be prepared. We got snacks and drinks (goldfish, pretzels, gummy bears, m&ms, jello, cheetos, apple juice, grape juice, kool-aid, etc.), a potty seat topper (I am a little grossed out by the stand-alone potty chairs), pull-ups (for naps and nighttime only) and Tinkerbell panties. We were READY (or so we thought)! We quickly learned that there is no perfect time to begin potty training and you can never really be prepared for your first time. It is kind of like having your first baby ... you buy everything on the "list" and get the room all ready and you are "prepared" and then the baby comes :) About lunch time T was ready to go back to work. You can only spend so much time in the kitchen before you start to go a little stir crazy. All in all she did pretty well. 3 accidents before her nap at around noon and only half an accident (it was caught just in time) after her nap! G called Bamma, Nana and Papa to say "I tt in potty"!!! at various times during the day and Bampa was the lucky recipient of "I poo poo in potty"!!! We will definitely be happy when this is all over. We are optimistic for tomorrow....

Baking with G

G loves to help in the kitchen!! She is constantly dragging a chair from the table saying "I need help" (translation: "I want to help") over and over again each time a little louder. The first couple pictures are baking sugar cookies with Nana at Easter. The others are baking rolls with Bamma a couple weeks ago. I just noticed as I was typing this that she is wearing the same shirt in both sets of pictures. And her hair is the same. I promise it was two different days!! :)





G had to have her little Easter basket on her shoulder while she was helping. She does love purses (insert anything with a strap or handle).

We baked her roll and it was pretty tasty! She does love to eat the rolls just about as much as she enjoyed helping make them.

Zoo Fun

G LOVES the Zoo. She can tell you just about every animal's sound and most of the time the sound is what she calls the animal. For example "I see moo" when seeing a cow. While Bamma and Bampa were visiting we all went to the Zoo. And as crazy as it might be, it wasn't even B's first visit. I had taken him the week earlier. It was pretty much the same experience for him both times. We waited for T to get home from work so it was a VERY HOT day. It was still fun and definitely nice to have extra sets of hands for G who doesn't always like to stay with the group! We had a good time and will be returning several times this summer.

Just a little tip: If you happen to buy the spray-on sunscreen (which I LOVE by the way) make sure that it is closed when traveling otherwise you might end up accidentally spraying almost the entire contents of the can inside your diaper bag and as a result ruining 2 sets of clothes. On a positive note your diaper bag will smell like summer for weeks to come :)



Just a couple shots I was proud of myself for getting. The giraffe and elephant were the first animals we saw that day and about the only pictures of animals I got.

I think B had the most fun ;) He pretty much snoozed the entire time only waking up to eat and then it was right back to sleep. I am sure Bamma didn't mind staying the shade as we tried our best to keep him from getting too much sun.





What a difference a year makes. We took G to the zoo for her 1st birthday and she screamed the entire time she was on the carousel. She absolutely LOVED it this time. It was a pretty low key day at the zoo, probably because of the heat, and G and Dad had the carousel to themselves.

Sunday Best

After getting B dressed for church this morning I couldn't resist a photo shoot. I wasn't sure of the protocol for ties with three-button shirts but after seeing it on him it was just so cute that I really didn't care :) He wasn't the most cooperative before church, but G was a good helper. I sneaked in a couple pictures after church when he was sleeping.
