ward christmas party

We had a potluck dinner/entertainment/Santa visit for our ward dinner. It was a lot of fun.

The kids got these nativity scene stickers from Santa (pictures at the bottom of the post). They were really cute and kept the kids entertained while we were waiting to eat.

G was very particular (no surprise) about where her stickers went.

B chowed down on the deserts. Somehow Dad let him have 3 different treats. (I was not aware.) At one point, right before the primary kids started singing, B started crying and complaining about this tummy hurting. We thought we were going to have to leave before it was over. I took him out in the hall and asked him if he thought he was going to throw up or if he needed to go to the bathroom. He said no just that his tummy hurt. Finally he said, "Its because I ate that cupcake, cookie and cake." Yep, that would probably do it. He stopped crying and said he was okay to go back in. He still wasn't feeling the best but managed to get through it. On the way home he announced he was all better. Poor kid.

E was kind of all over the place that night. She did want to sit still while we were eating, after she was done. We just let her crawl around near our table which was next to a door to the hallway. At one point, there were about six 8 to 10-year-old boys all in a circle around her. They were being so cute with her, talking softly to her and playing with her etc. When we decided she had had enough (they were kinda closing in) and I went and picked her up those boys were so sad. They didn't want her to leave. Too bad I didn't get a picture :(

After we ate, the primary kids sang some Christmas songs for everyone. I can't remember every song they sang, but they did sing all the versus to "Do You Hear What I Hear". G knew almost all of the words and that is a long song. We were so impressed. She did so great.

We actually saw Santa before we ate but I thought I would save the pictures until the end. I just have to say the background was decorated fabulously - pictures were taken in a class room at the church. Santa did a great job with the kids. Grace was a little bit of a chicken and made B go first. He was a little nervous but as soon as Santa asked him how old he was he warmed right up.

B asked Santa for "cars cars shoes".

She did okay once she actually got on his lap but forgot what she wanted. She had to think for a while and ended up asking for an art easel and princess shoes.

E was pretty brave - okay not really - but she did manage to stop crying long enough for a picture.

E's poor little sad face - the things we do to our kids for pictures. I am not sure what G's face is doing and B got a little distracted apparently :)

All of us! Look how happy E is when mom hold her :) I think B had had enough at this point.

a bath and some tears

E does love her bath. She plays with toys and splashes and has a grand time.

She doesn't even mind laying down to wash her hair.

so sweet

I can't remember why she was crying but isn't that the most pitiful face you have ever seen?

ok maybe this one is more pitiful ... poor baby

@ the park in december

I love going to the park in December. It is always so nice outside. The kids enjoyed playing and I enjoyed my camera. There are lots of pictures - it was just too hard to narrow it down much more than this.

G was first down the slide but...

B might have enjoyed it more.

My fancy camera focused on the branch instead of G. I thought it was kind of a cool picture though.

There she is...

I am loving the tongue ;)

Do you think he was having fun? I am not sure...

The poor ducks...they had no idea what was about to happen...
they were honking and quacking so loud they had to lean into it...it was hilarious!

E spent the first part asleep. I have no idea how she was sleeping - she does not look comfortable at all.

She finally woke up so we put her on the slide. She wasn't too sure about it.

She needed a little help from dad.

She went down this one by herself but I could not get her to smile. silly girl.

She was much happier sitting on the ground eating wood chips.
And this is the point of the day (about 15 min before we left)
when I realized I never changed the white balance on the camera.

See the difference?

At least she enjoyed the swings.

brownies

these kids sure love to bake {insert eat the batter of anything I bake}
they always take their time and enjoy every last bit {or until mom says they have had enough}
and they always make a big mess all over their faces {but how could you tell it was good if it didn't make a mess?}

poor E just sat on the floor and begged ... sorry kiddo maybe next time {as long as you are at least 1 next time...}

while the big kids were licking the bowls, spoons and beaters clean, E decided {she really didn't have a choice} to be a perfect subject for my new camera {have I told you how much I love that new camera?}
