@ the splash pad

In case you didn't know, it is hot in Houston. I mean really HOT, like record-breaking-temperature hot ... and it is only June ... and I am 30 weeks pregnant so I am especially hot ALL. THE. TIME. I may not make it to the end of the summer. Luckily for us (and by us I mean the kids as I did not actually play in water, surprising I know) our library has a park next to it and said park has this little splash pad. G and B have a great time in the water. E, not so much. She would prefer to point out birds and step in squishy mud, but she had a good time being outside.

and because we need reminders of how cute she is when she is climbing where she shouldn't, taking things out of the trash and dragging them all over the house, taking the salt and pepper out of pantry (usually upside down) and squealing/screaming that ear-piercing squeal/scream she does when she wants something she can't have...

She put B's boot on all by herself and was pretty proud of her accomplishment.

G on Sunday

G gave a talk in primary today so I decided to braid her hair last night so it would be wavy (like Wese does her hair sometimes). It was a huge hit and I am pretty proud of my work. Then I braided just the front and put this super cute flower clip that I got the other night (more on that later). After she was all dressed, amazingly we have a few seconds before leaving for church so I took her outside to take some pictures.

Snakes Alive!

Thursday June 9th I had a day of stamping at a friend's. It was fabulous! E came with me for the first part of the morning and T took G and B to the library where they were having a snake show. T hates snakes so I was pretty impressed when he said he would take them. Mr. Clint the Snake Man brought 4 different kinds of snakes and asked for parent volunteers to hold them so the kids could see. T was under strict instruction to take pictures since I couldn't be there, so he didn't volunteer. He didn't mind all that much. He did think it was funny that all of the volunteers were moms.

This is Mr. Clint with one of the king snakes. He told the kids that king snakes don't bother people but they do eat other snakes.

Mr. Clint again with an albino corn snake. There was also another baby corn snake whose name was Corny :)

T couldn't remember what kind of snake this was but it was one of the ones G actually touched.

And this is about as brave as G got, touching the snake with 1 finger. She told me after I got home that she didn't want to hold any that she just wanted to pet them.

B was much more brave than G. After the demonstration was over Mr. Clint told the kids they could come and hold the snakes if they wanted to. There was a pretty long line for the boa constrictor so T decided to go see the other ones first. B was not happy. He was very concerned that he would not get to the "big one". He was very adamant that he wanted to stand in line for the boa. And he did. And he LOVED it. He was all smiles afterward.

I love how he is looking at it in this one with the smile on his face. By the way, this boa weighed in at 18 lbs.

I really hope B doesn't ever want a snake as a pet.

G and her dance teacher

I took a few stills while I was videoing but none of them really turned out very well. I did manage to get one of G and her dance teacher when they were finished. Mrs. C is in our ward but G didn't really know her until dance class. She loves Mrs. C and always finds her at church now.

mostly for Wese - Ballet Edition

G had her "parent watch day" at dance class on June 4th. She was super excited. There are a total of 6 girls in her class. There are A LOT of videos but I knew blogger had a 'per video limit' and I wanted to make sure I could put most of the "routine" on here for grandparents and aunts & uncles who couldn't be there. In total it is about 45 minutes long but I didn't record all of the girls in the class doing the individual things, E busted her lip towards the end and I had to help calm her down and I filled up a memory card right at the end of the Hokey Pokey (next post). But I feel like I got most of the highlights :)

Her class is divided into 2 parts: Ballet and Tap, so I am posting in 2 parts. This one is Ballet. Hopefully I can get the Tap part done either tonight or tomorrow. G has improved SO much since the first week. Especially, the "hop hit your knee" (next post).

This was also my first time using the video feature of my camera. I was going to practice before we got there but ran out of time. (I was lucky I got my battery charged.) I am sure there are settings to make it better but I have no idea what they are. I am also a little shaky with the camera in parts but I was trying not to get the backs of heads and the teacher :) Enjoy!
